V-League’s top outside hitter Jeong Ji-seok joins national team
Jung Ji-seok (28-Korean Air), one of the best outside hitters in the V-League, will join the national team.
According to a Korean Air official토토사이트, the Korea Volleyball Association sent a letter to Korean Air on Feb. 22, asking the airline to cooperate with the national team’s strengthening training. Jeong Ji-seok, who competed at the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Manama, Bahrain, on Nov. 21, will arrive in Korea on Nov. 23, take a day off, and join the Jincheon team on Nov. 24.
After graduating from Songlim Go and participating in the 2013-2014 rookie draft, where he was selected by Korean Air with the sixth pick of the second round, Jeong made his professional debut in the 2015-2016 season. At 194 centimeters, he is one of the longest outside hitters in the league, and he has developed into one of the most dominant players in the V-League with his offensive prowess, as well as his receiving and defense skills. Thanks to Jung’s explosive growth, Korean Air won its first championship trophy in the 2017-2018 season after the inauguration of the V-League, and went on to win three consecutive titles from 2020-2021 to 2022-2023. He was named the regular season MVP in 2018-2019 and 2020-2021, and the championship MVP in 2020-2021.
Jeong had been suspended from the national team for one year by the Korea Sports Council’s review committee for exclusion from national team reinforcement training on May 6 last year. With the suspension lifted on May 6, it is analyzed that Lim recalled him to the national team to strengthen the team’s offense.
The national team will compete in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenger Cup from July 8-15 in Taipei, Taiwan. The players on the roster have been training at the Jincheon Athletes’ Village since July 1.
Korean Air players who competed at the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship will join the team after the tournament. Jeong Jeong-seok, Kim Kyu-min, Lim Dong-hyuk, Jeong Jeong-yong, and Kim Min-jae will arrive at Incheon Airport at 12 p.m. on the 23rd and will have a day off before joining the team at Jincheon Athletes’ Village on the 24th.
