Tottenham boss tweets…sale targets are key “I’m enjoying working with him”
Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso, 27, is not expected to leave the club this summer.
“New manager Enzi Postecoglou is determined to keep him at the club this summer,” British media outlet ‘The Boot Room’ reported on June 26.
Tottenham Hotspur won a 5-1 friendly victory over Ryan City (Singapore) at the Singapore National Stadium on Saturday.
On paper, it was a convincing win, but the first-half performance was disappointing. Tottenham were tied 1-1 at halftime. Postecoglou made a number of changes in the second half to try and turn things around, one of them being Lo Celso.키톤벳
Lo Celso set the tone for the team in the second half, threatening throughout. In the 28th minute, he added a second goal.
Lo Celso has been up for sale this summer. According to local reports in Spain, Lo Celso has been linked with a move away. However, according to English media outlet Football London, Postecoglou spoke directly about the transfer rumors after the game.
He said: “I like Rosselso. He fits well with our style of play. I enjoy working with him and I think he enjoys being with us.”
Lo Celso, who can play in the center and as an attacking midfielder, joined Tottenham in 2019-20 and enjoyed a strong first season, but his place in the team was increasingly limited. In 2021-22, he made just nine Premier League appearances. He moved to Villarreal on loan in the winter transfer window.
Since his arrival, he has become an integral part of the Villarreal offense. In the UEFA Champions League, he starred in the quarterfinal series against Bayern Munich, helping them reach the last four. He made 22 appearances in a Villarreal shirt, starting all six Champions League games.
It wasn’t the same at Tottenham. Lo Celso has been the subject of criticism. He’s been plagued by injuries since joining Spurs. Even when he was on the pitch, his ups and downs often left something to be desired. However, since his arrival, he has earned the trust of the club.
He also spent last season on loan at Villarreal. In total, he scored two goals and provided three assists in 29 games. He made an impact as he started 14 of their 22 La Liga matches.
Lo Celso’s contract ends in June 2025. The time has come for him to decide between renewing his contract and moving on. For now, he is not expected to move on immediately under Postecoglou. He’ll have more opportunities to play next season as he works his way up through the ranks. “Postecoglou is a fan of Lo Celso, so his fortunes at Tottenham could change soon,” says The Boot Room.
