The camp was on fire… Catcher→Outfielder→Futures Home Run King “I have a strong desire to do better”
Kiwoom Heroes is looking forward to the birth of another ‘geopo’.
Joo Seong-won (23, Kiwoom Heroes) was a catcher when he was nominated by Kiwoom in the 2nd, 3rd round (24th overall) of the 2019 rookie draft.
It was not easy for him to survive as a catcher even in Kiwoom. There were two main catchers, Park Dong-won and Lee Ji-young, and the backup catchers were also solid. He enlisted in the military without debuting in the first team and promised the next, and returned after being discharged in March of last year.
Coming back to the professional stage with no place to retreat, he chose to change. He seems to have chosen an outfield conversion because he has extraordinary qualities in batting.
He became a ‘God’s hand’. Joo Seong-won hit 10 homers in 81 games and became the home run king in the Northern League of the Futures. Although he still lacked some parts, such as coping with breaking balls, he planted the perception that ‘if caught, he will overcome’ his extraordinary strength.
Kiwoom officials praised his extraordinary efforts, saying, “If you do like Joo Seong-won, everyone will succeed,” and looked at his outfield conversion positively, saying, “It seems that he has found his own clothes.”
Joo Seong-won, 먹튀검증who is building his body at Kiwoom Taiwan Spring Camp, which is mainly conducted in practice, showed off his fire bat in a practice game against the Taiwanese club.
Recording multiple hits from his first game, he was active with 2 hits and 1 walk in 4 at-bats, including a hit in his first two at-bats in the game against Chongxin Brothers on the 24th. His performance in 4 practice matches was 5 hits and 2 walks in 12 at-bats. He got a hit every game.
Joo Seong-won explained the secret of his recent performance, saying, “The batting coach set up a good strategy at the plate. Thanks to his advice to draw the strike zone well and enter, I think there are good results.”
When Kiwoom recruited Futures free agent Lee Hyung-jong this season, two outfield positions were set for Lee Jung-hoo and Lee Hyung-jong. Lee Yong-kyu, Lim Byeong-wook, Lim Ji-yeol, and Kim Jun-wan are competing fiercely for the remaining spot.
Joo Seong-won also confidently took on the challenge. As he won the title in the Futures League, he looked a little higher. He said, “As much as I won the Futures title last year, I have a strong desire to do better this year.” I made up my mind.
