Runway submerged in water… Korean Tour Bizplay e-newspaper open 2R course canceled due to difficulty in restoration

The world’s first runway-type course lost its functionality due to the pouring rain. The Korea Golf Association (KPGA) waited for the rain to subside for five hours, but announced a reduced operation as course conditions made it impossible to host the tournament.

KPGA announced on the 15th that the second round of the Korean Tour Bizplay Electronic News Open (total prize money 700 million won), scheduled to be held at Cosmos Lynx Country Club (par 72, 7,404 yards) in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, was canceled due to bad weather. The second round of the day, which was scheduled to tee off at 7 a.m., was canceled after four delays (5 hours) as the rain from the previous day did not subside.

Association competition committee chairman Kwon Cheong-won said, “It rained from the night before to this morning, making it difficult to save balls on the course. He explained, “The race committee, course team, and Operations Director Lee Woo-jin delayed four times to check the course condition, but considering the condition and maintenance time, we decided to cancel at 11:50 a.m. after consultation with the title sponsor.”먹튀검증

The conditions were so bad that water was accumulating on the fairway. Considering that it is a new course that has just opened and that it is a links type built on reclaimed land, it is inevitable that there will be some backlash. It was a straight, rectangular course reminiscent of a runway, so word of mouth spread even before the start of the competition, and with 365 bunkers, some said it looked “like the surface of the moon.” Although it succeeded in attracting attention, it was a disgrace because the drainage problem, which is the most basic problem of a golf course, was not smooth.

Due to the cancellation of the round on this day, the opening of Bizplay Electronic Newspaper left behind a strange tradition of being reduced in operation three times until this year. The second round of the invitational tournament held at Jeju Tamius CC in 2020 was canceled, and the first round was canceled at Jeju Blackstone Golf & Resort last year.

In this season’s Korean Tour, the 3rd round of the GS Caltex Maekyung Open held at Namseoul CC in May was canceled due to rain, and it was recorded as the first competition of the season to be held in a reduced capacity as a competition exclusively organized by the Korean Tour.
