‘Purchase King 2nd consecutive victory’ Park Min-ji, will she work again this year… The KLPGA Tour’s 7-month long journey is coming to an end
The Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) tour kicks off its domestic opening match in earnest following its overseas opening in 2022. There is a long journey to meet golf every week without a single week of rest.
The Lotte Rent-A-Car Women’s Open (토토사이트total prize money of 800 million won) is the first KLPGA Tour event to be held this year. It will be held for four days from the 6th at Lotte Skyhill Jeju Sky Ocean Course (par 72) in Seogwipo, Jeju.
The opening match of the 2023 season and the second competition, the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open and the PLK Pacific Rings Korea Championship, were held in December 2022, so it is the third competition of the season, but it is practically the opening match.
The KLPGA Tour will hold 30 tournaments starting with the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women’s Open. Excluding the two-week break in mid-July, it is a long run with competitions held every week until the SK Shielders and SK Telecom Championships in November. In this season, with the largest prize money of over 30 billion won, the best players in Korea who will compete for big personal titles such as prize money king and grand prize are all going out to the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women’s Open. There are no missing players compared to last year. Among the players who were ranked in the top 20 on the prize money list last year, all but Hae-Ran Yoo, who moved to the LPGA Tour, will participate.
The player receiving the most attention is Park Min-ji, the number one player in Korea. Park Min-ji, who achieved two consecutive victories in prize money last year, will challenge for three consecutive victories this year. Lee So-mi, who is exceptionally strong at Lotte Skyhill Jeju, is also a strong contender. Lee So-mi won the championship in 2021 and was runner-up last year. Defending champion Jang Su-yeon also matches well with Lotte Skyhill Jeju. Jang Soo-yeon is the only player who has won twice in this competition, which started in 2008 and celebrates its 15th this year. This time we are aiming for our 3rd win.
He finished in the top 10 four times at the event, finishing runner-up in 2013, tying for 10th in 2014, and winning in 2016. Last year, after winning this tournament, he had a difficult day due to injuries, but announced a revival by placing his name in the top 10 in both the 2023 season opener and the second tournament, which were held earlier in December 2022. The participation of Lynn Grant (Sweden), who is considered the strongest player in the European Women’s Professional Golf Tour (LET), is also of interest. Grant won the Daesang and Rookie of the Year awards by winning the LET four times last year. She also ranked 22nd in the world rankings, following Park Min-ji (21st) among the players participating in this tournament. The winner of the Lotte Rent-A-Car Women’s Open not only receives the prize money, but also the privilege of participating in the LPGA Tour Lotte Championship next year and being treated as a member of Lotte Skyhill Jeju for one year.
