LG Park Myung-geun off for 10 days + one more week…Cho Won-tae debut canceled → joins bullpen

LG rookie Park Myung-geun, who has held key positions from set-up man to temporary closer, is taking a break for the time being. He was removed from the first team on Aug. 8 and is expected to return at the end of the month at the earliest.

LG head coach Yeom Kyung-yeop announced on the 8th that Park Myung-geun will return after taking more rest for the time being, rather than immediately after the start of the second half of the ‘2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League’ against the Lotte Giants at Sajik Stadium in Busan. Park Myung-geun swapped spots with Cho Won-tae on the first team roster.

Coach Yeom Kyung-yup said, “Cho Won-tae is a long relief. If there is a big score difference, he will go out. I don’t want to overload the middle pitchers. In the second half, when Yoo Young-chan and Baek Seung-hyun come in, they should be out. (Depending on the situation), I’ll let him pitch in the first team once before that.”

Cho Won-tae was originally scheduled to start against Sasik Lotte on Sept. 9, but was rescheduled due to rain on Sept. 7. He will make his first first-team appearance of the season out of the bullpen. Last year, he made two relief appearances and threw four scoreless innings.

As for Park’s condition, “We’re going to give him a long rest. He’s had ligament damage in his elbow since high school. I don’t think he’s going to come back at the start of the second half, and I think he’s going to take another week off. I’ll have to manage it. I didn’t go to the hospital this time, and I have the medical test data from when I joined the team.”먹튀검증

Day 8: 1st Team Dropped

Register pitcher Cho Won-tae and cancel pitcher Park Myung-geun.

  • If canceled, change the starting pitcher.

“I’m going with Plutko. I think he can do it today. The outfield is draining well.”

*(4:55 p.m. on Aug. 8, Lotte grounds crews began organizing tarps)

  • On whether Park Myung-geun is in worse shape than when he joined the team.

“It’s important to keep it that way. If it gets worse, he might have to have surgery, so we don’t want him to go that far. If I have to have surgery, I’ll have to go to the army. It’s part of the training to make sure they can last longer without surgery.”

“Yoo Young-chan and Baek Seung-hyun also need to be able to go all the way after coming back in the second half to gain experience. With that data, we can see what we need to fix. When you go back and forth between the first team and the Futures team, you have to build the process again. It’s important to have continuity so that we can get a good picture of the player and the coaching staff can get a good picture of the player. I don’t expect Kim Yun-sik to be a full-time starter. We can’t consider him as a full-time starter next year because he doesn’t have the experience yet. That would affect the team’s management. I wanted him to get full-time experience this year, but it didn’t work out. I have to start all over again next year. I need two years of full-time experience before I can start thinking about the season.”
