Doosan’s Flexen assigned to Seattle, future unclear
Chris Flexen, who returned to the big leagues in 2020 after playing for Doosan, has been designated for assignment by Seattle. The future of Flexen, who was one of the KBO’s reverse export myths, is unclear.
“Seattle has designated Flexen for assignment to make room for the return of bullpen arm Trevor Gott,” MLB.com reported on Monday.
Flexen started the season as a starter in the Robbie Ray departure, but struggled and was moved to the bullpen. He went 4-4 with a 7.71 ERA in 17 games and was eventually designated for assignment.
After making his major league debut in 2017 and going 3-11 with an 8.07 ERA in 27 games (11 starts) through 2019, Flexen had a breakout year with the Doosan in 2020. In five postseason games, he went 2-1 with one save and a 1.91 ERA, earning postseason hero honors. He then signed a two-year, $4.75 million deal with Seattle to return to the major leagues and was a key part of their starting staff in 2021 (14-6, 3.61 ERA) and last year (8-9, 3.73 ERA).안전놀이터
