New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso, 29, has taken over the Major League Baseball (MLB) home run lead.

Alonso started in the four-hole and went먹튀검증 2-for-2 with a home run, two doubles, two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs in a 10-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Saturday (June 26). He is batting just .239 (45-for-188) on the season, but has rebounded to hit .292 (7-for-24) over his last seven games. Four of his seven hits during that stretch have been home runs. His on-base percentage is a whopping .792.

According to MLB.com, the official MLB website, Alonso is now on pace for exactly 60 home runs. He’s also left his mark. With his home run against the Cubs, Alonso reached the 165-homer plateau in his fifth year. “Alonso is one of nine players to hit 165 or more home runs in their first five seasons, joining such greats as Ralph Kiner, Albert Pujols, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams,” MLB.com said.

Alonso is the current favorite for Most Valuable Player (MVP). Max Muncy (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Jorge Soler (Miami Marlins-over 15) for the most home runs in a season. Third overall and first in the National League (NL) in RBIs with 45, behind Adolis Garcia (Texas Rangers-49) and Jordan Alvarez (Houston Astros-46). Defensively, he has played 415 innings at first base with just one error.

A second-round pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Alonso made his big league debut in 2019. He exploded for 53 home runs (120 RBI) in his first season, breaking the MLB record for most home runs in a season by a rookie (52) set by Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) in 2017 and winning the NL Rookie of the Year award. He also broke the NL rookie record of 39 home runs set by Cody Bellinger (Los Angeles Dodgers) in 2017, and surpassed the Mets’ single-season franchise record of 41 set by Todd Hundley in 1996 and Carlos Beltran in 2006. Last year, he hit 40 home runs, and he’s on pace to do it again this season.
